Incident Details

Our assistance was request by Gamble Jarvis Plant Hire shortly after 6am on Monday 26th September as the load being carried had struck the bridge on the A322 at Brookwood, Surrey making the entire unit immobile. Trevor Angrave attended in the DAF and David Cogbill with the Mercedes Hiab.

Following discussions with the police and railway representatives, we rigged to winch the excavators boom from under the bridge while supported by the Hiab. Once the heavy tracked excavator's arm had been released, the low loader vehicle was removed. The damaged excavator and loose debris were loaded on to the Mercedes Hiab and transported back to the customer's depot.

The road reopened once the local council's sweeper had completed the cleanup operation, but local traffic was on diversion until lunchtime.
